Inspired by Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests, Lower Boom has been shooting their own Screen Test series. Like Warhol, shooting 16mm film, silent and black and white, 100-foot rolls, 24 frames per second.

Warhold Goes BoomStatus: Completed

Press & Screenings:

  • October 2016, the Portland Art Museum asked Lower Boom to be part of their massive Andy Warhol retrospective exhibition.
  • October 30th, 2016, in the Whitsell Theater at the Museum, actual Warhol Screen Tests on loan from MOMA were screened (projected on film) simultaneously with the completed Lower Boom Screen Tests. Concurrently, Lower Boom shot additional Screen Tests inside the museum.
  • November 15th, at the 43rd Annual NW Filmmakers’ Festival, the Lower Boom Screen Test Series was shown with a live ‘ambient’ score by noted film composers Shawn Parke and Kim Henninger, adding an element of performance and sonic experimentation to the films. “It was an incredible honor to be asked to screen my films side-by-side with Andy Warhol’s. He has had a profound influence on me as a filmmaker and artist and on Lower Boom as a company.” – Lower Boom founder/CEO Matt Schulte
